Our Own Private Holi - The Aftermath - Nikon D800 - 85mm f/1.4 by Sparks_157
from Flickr http://flic.kr/p/mht25Q Some of you will know about the annual Indian festival of Holi, where literally milions of Indians pour onto the streets and throw enormous quantities of coloured powder and water over one another - family, friends, and strangers alike - in a riotous celebration of life. There are thousands of amazing street, reportage, NatGeo-style photographs about Holi around but I, in spite of my Indian heritage, have never actually been around with a camera when it is going on. Holi happened earlier this week, and I was in Bangalore, India, the week before! Anyways, I decied my boys, Rafi and Zach (left to right) would enjoy having full license to hurl coloured powder at each other. So this afternoon I let them rip. I hastily made a backdrop out of black construction paper in our garage, set up my speedlights (SB-900 left, SB-800 right) with some diffusers. I asked my wife to throw the remaining powder on the boys as I took this shot. Nikon D800 85mm f/1.4
